There were the highest highs, and of course, the lowest lows (such is life), but

in the end, it all worked out and Childebeast just wants to say thanks to all the

Childebeast quietly rocks The Java Garden (located downtown Hespeler, Ontario) at 8pm on a Friday night (October 1st to be exact!)

The way we like to do things around here is tell you about our shows after we've played them, rather than give you a fair chance at making it out to see us. Think of it as a fun game!

Lazu Lie debuts amidst cheering (and moaning)!/The Doors/Leahy and Randy

Dudes and gals, a few points of interest....

Our new "other" band, Lazu Lie, played at the Safari Jamboree last night (Saturday, August 14th),

and it was fun. We were supposed to play on this cool outdoor stage made on a hay bail trailor and decorated with bloody knives, wrenches, saws, and cleavers (plastic we think)...BUT...then it rained about a minute before the Axxxidentals finished their set. So we went inside and played in the basement area. It was hot, sweaty, filled with mosquitos that bit us all night... but the music flowed like the jager-bombs that were flowing down the throats of the audience. A girl sang backups for a few songs unexpectedly. She basically just hit one bending pitch that sounded like a drunken ghost having an orgasm. One way or another, she was into our shit bigtime. ;)

We played some covers including the guard! classique, "(Lemme Take Ya To A) Dirty Place" featuring Jason Crezel on guest vocals. Also, Lazu Lie cracked into an old chesnut... The Approachables song "Big Night Out"...people sang along. Other tracks included new originals from Lazu Lie, "Abstract Girls", "I Don't Want To Know Anything About That", "A Song Is A Spell", "Madrid", plus Childebeast's "Actual Eagles", Nervous Wrecked's's "Circles", and Livestalk's "Porvoise"...

On Friday we checked out The Doors in Chatham, and that was fucking awesome...gotta say! Wasn't sure what to expect, but the concert was so good. Helps that they got a guy who basically channelled Jim, and wasn't super pretentious about it. He had the voice, the moves, the attitude, and most of all, obviously loves The Doors music. Better than the guys we thought might be filling the role that night. And the audience was filled with super-psyched Doors fans...There were a few times we had to do a reality check as it was pretty unbelievable to hear songs like "L.A.Woman", "Moonlight Drive", "Not To Touch The Earth", played with utter conviction. Damn! Note to Doors: put out another album...why not????

On Saturday afternoon before the Lazu Lie show Matthew Davey and G.J. Stabbz played an acoustic show downtown Waterloo at the TABU fest. And we met Leahy and Randy from Trailer Park Boys. That was fun. Leahy made fun of G.J., calling her Anorexia, Bulimia, then Chlamydia...classic. And he sang a duet with Matt's daughter...creepy and cute! That gig went well too I thought. Not the upbeat rock that was being played before and after it, that's for sure...

So Young Coconut and GJ Stabbz are playing a show, but not exactly as Childebeast.
The as-yet-unnamed-super-duper-group featuring the members of Childebeast
and Nervous Wrecked will be playing at the fabled "Safari Jamboree" out in the
wilds of Branchton area outside Cambridge. Details are sketchy at best, and only
the elite (or is it the dregs of humankind?? maybe just C.H.U.D.s will be there...) will be in attendance. The band are debuting their crazy sound on August 14th. Keep your eye
on the black market for a bootleg!

Well, well, well... Our new album is now "out"... and what does that mean in this wild

and crazy modern age? It means, you, yeah *you*, can get yourself a copy of "sous le maison"

in actual hard copy form.. you just need to know where to get it. As of now, we, the band,

have 4 copies for sale at $10 each, and Encore Records has one in their local artists section.

It will also be available on our Bandcamp site shortly (www.childebeast.bandcamp.com),

in digital form for $5.

Shows are starting to creep up again. We are currently planning our CD release party, which will happen early Fall at a venue yet to be determined. Ah, the summer doth go by so quickly! We're busking a lot, so if you have sharp eyes, you can catch us at some of our favourite busking locations, namely: St. Jacobs (the town), downtown Waterloo, and downtown Kitchener... we'll probably be at the Bluesfest August 6,7,8 in some shady alcove pretending that we're bluesy. We successfully busked at Beiberfest (AKA 91.5 Beat Rocks the Block) this past weekend without anyone's permission. And guess what? Tweens like us! YESSS!

We could be playing at the Safari Jamboree (pending whether we're going to see The Doors in Chatham in mid-August), but its a private party - so you're not invited to that. However... if you contact us *NOW* we'd be willing to take with us two lucky fans. Yes, you'll get to hang out with us *all night*...think of how fun that sounds!

In other news, Young Coconut has just finished another solo album, which is available for *free* at his Bandcamp site (www.youngcoconut.bandcamp.com), and its called: "Sex, Drugs, Rock'N'Roll & Hobbits". YC: "the music is exactly what you'd expect from the title".

Childebeast is a multi-instrumentalist duo from Canada. The group has recorded two full length albums, the second to come out Spring of 2010. Childebeast collaborates with many local musicians, in performances, on recordings and performances, but haven't travelled very far as of yet.

What began in Summer 2006 in Baden, Ontario, as a platform to feature local talent, Childebeast developed into a veritable ‘hit factory’. Artists from around the way would offer up their talents, whether they be instrumental or vocal, and Childebeast would offer up the original songs, and then a curious coupling would occur. Together, with these original tunes, and with the help of several unique collaborators, magic was made in the form of “The Beastmasters”, an album which their label, Fauxtown Records, have dubbed “wacky, wide-eyed, and whimsical”. Childebeast, at its core, consists of Young Coconut, and GJ Stabbz, by this point both at odds with the growing corruption in the Yim Tin Tam bureaucracy, so they discreetly began Childebeast as a, in the words of GJ Stabbz, “distraction from the unrelenting infighting in YTT”. But soon the project had taken on a life of its own, and it wasn’t long before Adrian issued a threat to his bandmates, by way of local newspapers: “Either Childebeast goes, or I walk!” The ad, printed in chromium, cost a reported one hundred grand, which, as anyone in the chromium business will tell you, is quite reasonable. The repercussions of this blatant act were felt immediately, and Yim Tin Tam shattered into a million bits right then and there. On a positive note, the debut album from Childebeast was completed and released quietly on Fauxtown Records.

Once upon a time there was a young human named Young Coconut who dwelled deep in the small streets of a village called Kitchener. He had an idea, which he shared with his comrade GJ. His dream was to create a collection of songs, and have voices from all the land take part in these songs. GJ, as always, had her sceptical reaction and tried to detour Young Coconut from pursuing this project. It did not coincide with her idea of a song collection. "If we are to create these songs and document them, they should contain only our voices, the true voices of Childebeast" thought GJ in a proud rage. Of course, he would not go ahead without her, but as a consequence, he fell ill, so to save her friend from his pit of misery, she reluctantly agreed. Being his true friend, she would not abandon him, not even on this.

Approximately one year later, "The Beastmasters" was complete. Songs near, and not always dear, the heart, were recorded and produced by Childebeast themselves, as much of new and independent music is brought about these days. It was the first attempt to an official recording for these quarter-century old musicians. It was a hectic time, as they were simultaneously creating the album "Pink Magic" with their other band "Yim Tin Tam". However, thirteen tacks were selected to make up this debut album by the Kitchener duo. What made the album less predictable to an unsuspecting populace, was the idea Young Coconut had originally dreamt up; having guests share their vocal talents on the songs. Though Young Cocout and GJ sing an ample amount during the course of this album, other singers such as Amy Barber, Matthew Worthington, Pamela Mauro, J.K. Phil Ose, and Marco Pedrosa are included as well, and add much character and diversity to each song they contribute to.

Many different styles crept into the project, including Rap, on the track "Nothing Yet", elements of classical piano and flute can be heard on tracks such as "Army at the Door", a song which addresses a death caused by the lack of knowledge of how to navigate a round-a-bout. A strong sense of aimlessness and semi-insanity is the only way to describe "Citadel In the Sky", which one must hear for themselves to truly understand..."two bananas and a grape" indeed. In fact, the entire album can be considered to be inconsistent sonically as well as in the writing style. Some may say this is counter-productive for any serious musician with an ego worth an Eggo, but GJ and Young Coconut would have it no other way, it is quite possible they don't take themselves as seriously your average three-necked-guitar-wielding-triple-nickel-wound-stringed-classic-pickup Johnny or Janey Rocker.

The Beastmasters was released by Fauxtown Records in 2007 to what could be considered the opposite of applause, and yet also the absence of silence...which is to say, a warm, fuzzy irrelevance - their favourite emotional snack.
